I wake up every day ready to learn a new skill, a person’s story, or fact I did not know before that I can channel into work that will inform and motivate others.
My goal to inform and inspire the desire to learn in others made want to be a teacher growing up, but I also yearned to be out in the world working on issues that impact people's daily lives.
I believe the best way I can contribute and have an impact in my community is using my skills in developing and producing content, strong interest in current events and journalism, and passion for amplifying people's stories to be heard by the widest audience possible.
My first positions as a production intern for iCRV Radio, an online radio station for southern central Connecticut, and the East Haddam News introduced me to the impact journalism and media content can have on people and communities.
In the time since, I have continued to witness this impact through people I reported on telling me how happy they were to be heard, comments on social media reacting to television programming I played a part in, or watching a colleague grow as I work alongside them.
I want to have the widest experience possible that I can draw prior experience and references from. In addition to focusing on journalism, I have been involved in social media and government. I have repeatedly applied my journalism and social media training towards supporting several state senators with building relationships with businesses and local groups in their districts, and managing a state senator’s social media account to grow its total following by almost 25%.
What I seek most in my career is the opportunity to encounter new ideas and perspectives, grow my skill set, and meet new people who share my interest in the well-being of the community they reside in.
